The Chinese giant BYD's premium brand, Yangwang, has started a new era. Its hypercar, the U9 Track Edition, is now the world's fastest electric car. It reached a speed of 472 km/h in Germany, breaking the previous record from 2024, which was held by the Japanese Aspark Owl. This event shows that electric car technology is becoming very competitive with gas-powered supercars.
What Makes It So Fast?
The Yangwang U9 „Track Edition" is a true technological monster. It has four electric motors, and together they produce almost 3,000 horsepower. This makes it one of the most powerful cars in the world. One of its most impressive features is a 1,200-volt platform, which gives it extreme power. It also has a smart system called DiSus-X that controls the car. For the "Track Edition," the software was improved to adjust the suspension of each wheel for the best performance on a track. Additionally, the car has a torque-vectoring system that makes adjustments 100 times per second. This helps prevent the wheels from slipping at high speeds.
Design Changes and a Look to the Future
There are also some design changes. The U9's large rear wing is gone, and a new front splitter made of carbon fiber has been added. The tires were also specially made for this car with Giti Tire to get the best grip. This new record broke the records of both the Aspark and the Rimac Nevera. Now, the world is waiting to see which car company will be the first to reach 500 km/h. Yangwang has shown that with today's technology, this goal is no longer impossible.
