The Japanese company recently introduced the 2026 Honda Prelude. Unfortunately, the new model seems to have lost its aggressive shape and looks more like a children's toy visually.
In the 90s, the 4th (BA8) and 5th (BB5) generation Prelude models were often seen on the streets of Tbilisi. It was a dream car for many people. Sadly, I cannot say the same about the new model because it no longer gives us that emotional feeling. Of course, this is just my subjective opinion, and I may be wrong in my assessment.

The 2026 Honda Prelude is traditionally front-wheel drive (FWD). Under the hood, it has the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine from the Civic Hybrid, which is paired with two electric motors. In total, it produces 200 horsepower and 315 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. The car is equipped with an electronic continuously variable transmission (eCVT). It only takes 6.0 seconds to reach 100 km/h. 20-25 years ago, these numbers would have been amazing, but in the modern world, this is no longer enough. It is such an economical car that many other brands would be envious. For example, it uses only 4.5 liters of petrol per 100 kilometers in the city, and a bit more on the highway, 4.8 liters.

Regarding the front suspension system, Honda has brought over the dual-axis strut front suspension from the Civic Type R. The main advantage of this system is that it reduces torque steer. The new Prelude also features adaptive shock absorbers. The car comes with 19-inch wheels and a Brembo braking system.

The interior of the Honda Prelude looks quite attractive. Inside, you will find sports seats. For the driver, there is a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 9.0-inch touchscreen is placed in the center of the dashboard. The infotainment system includes Google software, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functions as standard. The Bose audio system is responsible for the quality of the music.

The starting price of the 2026 Honda Prelude is $43,195, which is quite high. Its main competitors are the Toyota GR86 and the Mazda Miata. - Would you buy the new Honda Prelude?
