The New Desert Beast - Jeep Wrangler Scrambler SRT

At the 2026 SEMA show, we saw an amazing new truck from Jeep called the Wrangler Scrambler SRT. Basically, it is a real desert weapon disguised as a pickup. Built for off-road and desert fans, this model uses a Wrangler frame. The two-door pickup brings back the spirit of the legendary Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler from the 1980s (1981–1986). Even though Jeep brought back the Gladiator in 2019, fans still wanted a new Scrambler. Now, this model is the new main flagship truck for the brand.Unlike a normal Wrangler, the Scrambler is completely changed from the front doors back. It has longer doors, a unique back part, a truck bed with a protective liner, a new tailgate, and a strong roll cage to keep people safe at high speeds. Of course, like any good Jeep, you can easily take off the roof and the doors. The Wrangler Scrambler SRT is quite wide. It has a high suspension and huge BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 off-road tires. Compared to the Gladiator, it has bigger, muscular sides and smaller windows, which makes the truck look very aggressive. This car is so tough that a Browning M2 machine gun would fit the back bed better than seats. And instead of the bright Punk’n Orange color, a U.S. Marine Corps sand color (USMC Sand - FS 33711) would look even cooler. When I looked at the front of the Wrangler Scrambler SRT, it reminded me of a shark. The design is a modern take on old Jeeps, where the round headlights sit inside square shapes. The Scrambler from the 80s became a legend because it broke the rules. It looked different, worked differently, and showed a spirit of freedom that people still love today. The Scrambler got a brand-new front independent suspension made just for it, working together with off-road racing champion Casey Currie. This is a first for the Wrangler, and its job is to give better stability, precise steering, and good wheel control at high speeds. It also has a trophy-truck style rear axle, strong KMC wheels, a tougher frame, and most importantly, it can handle the heavy power of the SRT engine.A V-8 engine hides under the hood, but Stellantis has not shared the exact details yet. Because it has the SRT badge, it will probably be the 6.4-liter 392 Hemi V-8 (found in the Wrangler 392) or the 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat engine. The second one needs a big air scoop on the hood and the Scrambler concept already has that. The suspension comes from the Jeep Striker concept, which was inspired by the King of the Hammers race and also made by Currie. You can clearly see Fox sports shocks in the photos. Currie tested this system in real life when he won a two-day off-road race called NORRA 500 in California. The Striker had a 707-horsepower Hellcat engine and an open bed. This experience helped the engineers build a truck that easily drives through desert sand and tough off-road trails. One of the coolest and most useful parts of the Scrambler SRT is the rear seats in the truck bed. You can turn them around 180 degrees or take them out completely. The seats lock into special hooks, so passengers can sit facing the back, or you can remove them to get more space for camping gear. There is also a small step on the side of the truck to make it easier to climb up and grab things.

The front seats are pure sport: dark grey leather with orange parts, contrast stitching, bronze details, and SRT logos. Their shape holds the driver and passenger tightly in place when the truck flies fast over bumpy desert roads.Even though the car shown at SEMA is just a concept right now, Stellantis announced back in May that the Scrambler SRT will join the Jeep lineup as part of a five-year plan and will become the top model of the brand. The real production model will probably arrive around 2028.
