We live in an era where horsepower figures do not surprise anyone anymore. The new Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC is a perfect example of this trend. This new Mustang features a 795-horsepower, 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, paired with a Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT). The Dark Horse SC is Ford’s newest „weapon" It starts at $103,490, which is quite expensive for a Mustang. However, the promise is strong: this car was developed alongside the Mustang GTD and GT3 as a real track monster. But we still need to find out how well will it handle the corners? Can it really compete with the more refined European sports cars?
The exterior of the car was not changed just for looks; every line is designed for cooling and aerodynamics. The aluminum hood has a carbon fiber vent that creates 2.5 times more downforce than the standard Dark Horse. Additionally, the SC comes with a Track Pack, which includes Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires, carbon-ceramic brakes, and carbon fiber wheels. These upgrades reduce the car's weight by 68 kilograms.
Is it worth the investment?
With all the options, the price of the Dark Horse SC goes up to $170,970. For this much money, you can already buy cars like the Chevrolet Corvette Z06, the ZR1, or even some versions of the Porsche 911.
However, if we look at the optimal Track Pack version ($139,990), it is a very serious competitor:
It is true that the interior quality is not as good as a Porsche, but 795 horsepower is a very strong argument. The Dark Horse SC is not cheap, but in today’s expensive market, it is one of the most affordable ways to own a wild, 800-horsepower machine.
