The legendary Mercedes-Benz SEC is being reborn through a spectacular project by Renntech, a company world-renowned for pushing the limits of German engineering. Founded in 1989 by Hartmut Feyhl, who spent over a decade as a technical director at AMG, Renntech has built a philosophy around enhancing performance without losing the original soul of the car. This new project follows that same vision by transforming the classic SEC, which was originally produced between 1979 and 1991, into a modern masterpiece. While the original S-Class coupes only featured engines up to a V8, Renntech is breaking tradition by installing a massive 7.5-liter V12 engine.

This all-aluminum, naturally aspirated M120 V12 is the same engine family used in legendary supercars like the Pagani Zonda and the Mercedes CLK GTR. In this specific build, it produces an incredible 660 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, paired with a custom manual transaxle for a truly engaging driving experience. To handle this power, the car features carbon-ceramic brakes hidden behind forged two-piece wheels and equal-length headers that optimize the engine's performance.

Each of the 12 planned units will undergo a complete frame-up restoration to ensure the classic chassis can handle contemporary speeds. The exterior is just as impressive as the mechanics, featuring a custom widebody kit that significantly improves aerodynamics, cooling, and stability during high-speed driving. By combining the timeless elegance of a 30-year-old Mercedes with the power of a modern hypercar, Renntech is creating a restomod that honors the history of the SEC while offering performance that was once impossible for this model. This limited edition is a perfect example of Hartmut Feyhl’s commitment to engineering excellence and bespoke craftsmanship.
