After a difficult weekend at the Singapore Grand Prix on October 11, 2026, Fernando Alonso is asking Aston Martin and Honda for clear answers. The two-time world champion said that the Japanese engine was far from its best at Marina Bay, which completely ruined the race. There are three important races coming up next, and the Spanish driver wants the team to fix these problems quickly.
The trouble started on Saturday during qualifying, when Alonso missed the second session by just a fraction of a second. However, the real nightmare happened on Sunday. Even though both Aston Martin cars had to start from the pit lane, the engine inside the AMR26 actively made things harder for the driver. After the race, Alonso did not hide his disappointment from the media. He pointed out that the Honda power unit was not working the way it should. According to him, the team learned the hard way about issues like poor drivability and turbo lag - things that make drivers lose valuable time on every lap. The Spaniard stressed that repeating these problems at the next races, especially in the slow corners in Mexico and Las Vegas, would be a disaster.

Interestingly, Alonso is not sure why things got worse so quickly. He remembered the Baku weekend, where the first two sectors were slow and tricky, but the Honda engine did not break down. Because of this, the issue is specifically connected to the layout and settings of the Singapore track.

Aside from handling issues, serious questions came up about energy deployment. Even though Honda denied that the turbo changed before the race was damaged, Alonso explained that things went crazy with the electronics, especially after the Virtual Safety Car (VSC) ended. He felt like the system did not even know where the car was on the track - it used energy where it was not needed, and on the straight roads, the car did not get enough power.
